Funding period 2: 01.07.2015 – 30.06.2019
Project A05 reflects and contextualizes the notion of frames by historical reconstruction and systematic comparison to important predecessors and related notions in philosophy or adjunct disciplines. After having investigated the works of main representatives of frame theory, the project will now focus on its representational and closely related ontological assumptions. Frame theory will be linked to the ontological tradition of the Aristotelian categorial scheme and to alternative ontologies such as bundle ontology (Hume), process ontology (Whitehead), functions/relations ontology (Cassirer), and trope ontology (Husserl, Williams).
