PhD Project
My dissertation project aims at developing and implementing an account for the phenomenon of depictive secondary predicates. Informed by corpus data on the usage of depictives in English and German, the model is to describe the interface between the syntactic and the semantic component in such a way that it can eventually be integrated into a computational grammar resource. I am developing my analysis of the non-local modification phenomena that are displayed by depictives within the framework of Lexicalized Tree Adjoining Grammar (LTAG) in combination with frames representing the semantic component.
